Lizz Peterson is a Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist, receiving her certificates from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2010 and 2011. She completed both Orthotic and Prosthetic residencies at Westcoast Brace & Limb in Tampa, FL. While in Florida, Lizz began focusing on the orthotic treatment of Deformational Plagiocephaly and Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. She volunteered for the I Will Inspire 5k run/walk, an event that encourages everyone of any ability to get outside and push limits. After working in Florida, Lizz returned to the Midwest to continue her pediatric orthotic care at Scheck & Siress. She partnered with Dr. Frank Vicari, a plastic surgeon on the forefront of cranial research, to educate Chicago-land on Cranial Remolding Orthoses. Now Lizz is at her final stop in Denver, CO, working primarily at Children’s Hospital Colorado, specializing in Cranial Remolding Helmets. She also works with the University Hospital American Burn Association Certified Burn Center, providing custom burn masks for scar management.
Outside of clinical care, Lizz served on the Student Resident Committee for the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists for six years, acting as Co-Chair the final three years. The Committee’s goal is to help meet the needs of students and residents entering the professional field. She is also a member of Orthomerica’s Product Advisory Board, assisting in the development of off-the-shelf bracing. On the weekends, one can typically find Lizz scaling some of Colorado’s highest peaks, hiking or snowshoeing in the mountains, or traveling to kayaking or white water rafting destinations.
Greg Smits has a Bachelor of Science from University of Wisconsin La-Crosse. He then received his Orthotic certification from White-Bear Lake and did his residency at the University of Oklahoma. After residency, Greg then spent one year at the Cleveland Clinic before moving to Colorado. He has worked here at Children’s Hospital Colorado for the past 28 years, specializing in pediatrics. Outside of work he enjoys traveling with his family, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding and fly fishing.
Craig was born in Santa Monica, CA and grew up in Bellevue, WA. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics at the University of Washington in 1988. He completed his O&P Residency at The Cleveland Clinic foundation in 1991 and moved to Colorado Springs, CO where he worked for a local company for ten years. He was an Orthotic Examiner from 1993-2001, and on the Orthotic Written Exam Committee in 1994. Craig briefly left the O&P profession in 2001 and began working in Commercial Real Estate and owned his own commercial real estate company until 2012 where he then returned to the Orthotics and Prosthetics profession where he specializes in the orthotic treatment of scoliosis. He enjoys the atmosphere in Colorado where he spends time with his family camping, hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
John Wright has been a board certified orthotist since 1987. He received his undergraduate degree from Bethel College in St Paul, MN. He obtained his degree in orthotics from Century College/University of MN. He began his orthotic career at Gillette Children’s Hospital. After moving to Colorado, he worked in private practice until 2010, when he joined the orthotics facility at Childrens Hospital Colorado. In private practice, he focused on upper extremity, spinal and lower extremity orthotics. He has certificate training in Sure Step, Ultraflex, Biomechanical Composites and Cascade DAFO systems.
He is happily married to his wife of 36 years. They have two grown sons. For unknown reasons, he enjoys running, as well as exploring the great outdoors, mowing the lawn and working with special needs kids at church.
